Payment Gateways

A step-by-step administrator guide to enabling Direct Bank Account Transfers (BACS) and connecting the Mollie Payment Gateway for instant Bancontact, credit card, and online payments.

1. Setting Up Direct Bank Account Transfer (BACS)

Direct Bank Transfer allows researchers and institutions to place orders and pay manually via SEPA wire transfer. Orders are placed On Hold until payment clearance is confirmed by the finance administrator.

Configuring Bank Account Details

1. Navigate in the admin sidebar to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.
2. Locate Direct bank transfer and click Manage (or toggle it active).
3. Title & Description: Enter customer-facing labels (e.g. Direct Bank Transfer / Wire Payment).
4. Instructions: Detail payment reference requirements (such as including the Order ID and member name in the transfer memo).
5. Account Details Table: Click + Add account and input the official BAB organization bank coordinates:
   • Account Name: Belgian Alliance for Biomechanics
   • Account Number / IBAN: Full Belgian IBAN (e.g. BE...)
   • Bank Name & BIC/SWIFT: Institutional bank code
6. Click Save changes at the bottom of the screen.

2. Connecting Mollie for Instant Online Payments

Mollie serves as the primary online payment gateway, enabling one-click checkout for Bancontact, Credit Cards (Visa / Mastercard), Apple Pay, and iDEAL.

Authenticating & Enabling Payment Methods

1. Navigate to WooCommerce → Settings → Mollie Settings.
2. API Key Authentication:
   • Test API Key: Paste your test key (test_...) while verifying checkout workflows on staging.
   • Live API Key: Paste your verified production key (live_...) from your Mollie Dashboard (Developers → API keys) to accept real transactions.
3. Test Mode Toggle: Uncheck Enable test mode once verified to switch to production live mode.
4. Payment Methods Selection: Enable preferred payment channels (e.g. Bancontact, Credit Card, Apple Pay).
5. Click Save changes to synchronize your WooCommerce checkout directly with Mollie.
