WordPress Admin
A comprehensive administrative guide on accessing the WordPress back-end, handling secure logins, creating users, and configuring custom BAB member roles and working group permissions.
The administrative panel is located at /wp-admin or /wp-login.php. Only authorized personnel, board members, and active working group leads should be granted backend account access.
1. Logging into the Dashboard
To access the administrative workspace:
- Navigate in your browser to
belgianbiomechanics.be/wp-admin(or your active staging domain). - Enter your assigned Username or Email Address and password.
- If Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is enforced, provide your one-time verification token.
2. Managing Existing Users
To view, search, or update existing user profiles, navigate to Users → All Users in the left sidebar.
- Search & Filter: Use the search box or filter bar at the top to locate users by role (e.g. Administrator, Member, Subscriber).
- Edit User Details: Hover over any user row and click Edit to modify contact info, affiliation, or reset passwords.
- Delete / Demote: When removing accounts, WordPress will prompt you to delete all associated posts or reassign their content to another administrator.
3. Adding a New User or Member
To create a new user manually:
- Go to Users → Add New.
- Fill in the mandatory fields: Username, Email, and Name.
- Select the appropriate Role from the dropdown:
Administrator: Full system access across all site settings, plugins, codebases, and pages.
Member (bab_registered_member): Registered BAB researcher/collaborator. Unlocks access to gated documents, educational toolboxes, and assigned Working Group spaces.
Subscriber: Basic front-end account without access to internal working group files.
4. Custom BAB Profile Fields & Working Groups
When creating or editing a user with the Member role, dedicated custom fields automatically appear on their profile screen:
- Position: Select their academic or professional standing (e.g. Professor, PhD Researcher, Research Collaborator, Industry, Lab Manager).
- Industry / Affiliation: Specify their current institution, university (e.g. UGent, KU Leuven, ULiège), or corporate partner.
- Working Group Assignment: Assign the member to their active working group (e.g. Communication, Conference, Liaison & Corporate, PhD Event, Research Award).
Assigning a working group to a member automatically authorizes them to view and upload files within their group's private dashboard. Physical folder paths and streaming routes are isolated securely behind server-level access gates.
