As part of the Belgian Alliance for Biomechanics (BAB), an inventory was compiled of the research equipment available across its 18 participating research groups. The objective was to obtain a comprehensive overview of the technological infrastructure and measurement facilities available within the network.

Each research group provided detailed information about its available equipment, technical specifications, and primary fields of application. The inventory covers a broad range of technologies used in biomechanics research, including motion-capture systems, force platforms, electromyography, imaging equipment, pressure-measurement systems, and wearable sensors. It highlights the complementary expertise and infrastructure distributed across the participating institutions.

The initiative also makes it easier for researchers to identify equipment that is not available within their own institution. In this way, the inventory can facilitate interinstitutional collaboration and improve access to specialised technologies. It may also help avoid unnecessary duplication of expensive research infrastructure and support the more efficient use of existing resources.

Furthermore, the overview can help researchers identify opportunities for joint projects, methodological exchanges, and multicentre studies. Overall, this activity strengthens the Belgian biomechanics community by promoting transparency, resource sharing, and collaboration across the network.
